IWC Ingenieur "Zinédine Zidane" Ltd. Ed.

The Ingenieur has long been a core part of IWC’s collection. It was originally built as a robust tool watch for engineers and evolved during the 2000s under the influence of Gérald Genta to become a much-loved sports watch.
 
In 2008, the Ingenieur was chosen to pay tribute to one of football’s greatest ever players, Zinédine Zidane. Limited to just 1,000 pieces worldwide, it was created following Zidane's appointment as an IWC ambassador and incorporates a number of subtle references to his remarkable career.
 
The 44mm stainless steel case has a reassuring presence on the wrist, yet remains comfortable thanks to its short lugs and balanced proportions. Water resistant to 100 metres and fitted with a screw-down crown, it retains the practical, sporting nature that has always defined the Ingenieur.
 
The striking blue dial immediately sets this limited edition apart. Inspired by the colours of the French national team, it features applied markers, bold luminous hands, and flashes of red throughout the design. Most notably, the numeral "10" is highlighted in red, a reference to the shirt number Zidane wore during some of football's most memorable moments. The result is a watch that remains unmistakably an Ingenieur while offering a thoughtful tribute to its namesake.
 
Turning the watch over reveals a specially decorated case back featuring an engraving of Zidane himself. And underneath, the watch is powered by the IWC calibre 80111 automatic movement, known to be reliable and offering a reassuring 44-hour power reserve.
 
The movement has been recently serviced, and as such we’re happy to supply the watch with a 12-month warranty. Furthermore, the watch comes with a newer version IWC box, including a leather travel case.
 
In keeping with the style of the original strap, this piece has been fitted with a custom-made blue leather strap, highlighted with red stitching.
 
Combining one of IWC's most distinctive modern sports watch designs with a tribute to a sporting icon, the Ingenieur Zidane is a fascinating limited edition that appeals equally to watch enthusiasts and football fans.
