Rolex Sea-Dweller Deep-Sea "James Cameron"

Rolex Sea-Dweller Deep-Sea "James Cameron"

Rolex are known for creating robust tool and dive watches, and in 1967 released the Sea-Dweller – the first watch to feature a helium escape valve allowing for increased water resistance.

Fast-forward 45 years later, and Rolex released this reference 116660 “James Cameron”. The watch celebrates James Cameron’s mission into the Mariana Trench, known to be the deepest spot in all of Earth’s oceans.

The D-Blue dial graduates from blue to black and represents the colour of the ocean as Cameron descended more than 7 miles below the surface.

Aside from an aesthetically pleasing dial and substantial 44mm steel case, the watch features some technological advances in horology, enabling an impressive water resistance of 3,900 meters.

A 5mm sapphire crystal, held in place by a gasket, is surrounded by a nitrogen-alloyed steel compression ring. The titanium case back is also made from several components, further assisting with the water resistance.

Powering the watch is Rolex’s calibre 3135 automatic movement – reliable and robust and offering 48 hours of power reserve.

We are excited to present this 2016 watch in a very good, unpolished condition, supplied with its full set of box and papers including a six-month warranty from Watch Concierge Services.
