Corum Admiral's Cup
The Admiral’s Cup was one of the world’s most glamourous yachting regattas, with the first race taking place in 1957. Just three years later, in 1960, Swiss watch brand Corum released their first Admiral’s Cup timepiece to celebrate the races.
In 1983 the design of the watch was reinterpreted to give it a sportier feel, with the now famous twelve-sided bezel and nautical pennants. The flag-shaped pennants are used as a maritime code for letters and numbers.
This 1993 neo-vintage version is really quite charming with a sporty chic feel. The 26mm case is made from blue PVD steel and highlighted with 18ct gold on the bezel and bracelet. The rich blue dial is decorated with eleven colourful pennants and a date window at 6 o’clock.
The comfortable bracelet had a hidden folding clasp which itself is decorated with the Corum logo in 18ct gold – a key pointing up towards the skies, symbolising the perseverance and mysteries of the company’s future soon to be unlocked.
For many years Corum have been linked with the world of sailing, having proved itself as a reliable timepiece for many competitors. We think this delightful watch would work equally well for both onboard activities and with a cocktail in the yacht club afterwards.
We are excited to present this watch in an excellent condition showing light scratches to the gold and very little wear to the blue steel. The quartz movement is running well and has recently been fitted with a new battery. And perhaps one of the best bits – it comes supplied in a beautiful teak wood presentation box, along with the original paperwork and receipts from 1993.
