1967 Vintage Omega Speedmaster

An exciting opportunity to own an important piece of history, combining the worlds of both horology and space travel.

The Omega Speedmaster was originally produced in 1957 as a sports and racing chronograph and had an unrivalled track record for incredible reliability and performance. 

By the 1st June 1965, the Speedmaster was declared by NASA as “Flight Qualified for all Manned Space Missions” after having been subjected to a number of tests, and it was reference 105.012, and this reference 145.012, that eventually travelled to the Moon. This reference 145.012 also appeared on the wrists of many notable astronauts including Michael Collins (Apollo 11), Alan Shepherd (Apollo 14) and Tom Stafford (Apollo-Soyuz).

Watch Concierge Services are pleased to present for sale this fine example of a reference 145.012 SP, dating from 1967.

This reference carries significance as the last of the Speedmasters to be fitted with the much-loved calibre 321 movement, known for not only being functionally important, but aesthetically striking too. 

The reference 145.012 also represents an interesting transitional phase for the Speedmaster. It was the first to be fitted with the “Wide and Tall” pushers, an upgrade by Omega to improve the water resistance of the case, and identified by the “SP” on the inside of the case back, referring to the “Special Pushers”.
This particular watch is fitted with its original Singer dial, featuring an applied Omega logo. The tritium on the dial and hands has an even patina and has been well-preserved given the age of the watch.

The bezel is an original Omega bezel, known as a “Dot Diagonal 70”, and along with the case and case back, is in a very good condition. The case back in particular still clearly displays the Hippocampus logo, indicating light wear and little to no polishing. 

Supplied with the watch are both the original Omega flat-link steel bracelet (showing evidence of wear) and a brand-new generic bracelet of the same design. 
 
For your peace of mind, the movement has recently been serviced and is running well, and as such we are pleased to be able to provide a six-month warranty with the watch.

It is estimated that between 27,000 and 28,000 of the reference 145.012 were produced, however this reference 145.012 SP were made in much lower numbers, making the chance of finding an example in a condition such as this, even more challenging.
