A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date

We are pleased to bring to the market this beautiful A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date. One of the brand’s most distinctive creations, the Zeitwerk combines traditional mechanical watchmaking with an unconventional digital display and combined with an interesting date function, this reference 148.038 truly is a beautifully complicated timepiece.

The 44.2mm case is presented in 18ct white gold, giving a reassuring presence on the wrist while offering an understated alternative to alternative rose gold pieces. Discreet push pieces on either side of the allow the wearer to quickly and easily adjust the date and time.

The grey-coloured dial is made from 925 silver and features the characteristic central bridge to display the jumping time – the hours on the left and the minutes on the right. A small seconds is placed at 6 o’clock, providing a symmetry with a power reserve indicator above. Surrounding the dial is a grey date ring, with the current date shown in red. A subtle but useful use of colour against a predominately reserved and monochrome aesthetic.

Through an exhibition case back, one can appreciate the strikingly beautiful Calibre L043.8 hand-wound movement. Despite its complex construction and 516 components, the Zeitwerk movement is instantly recognisable by its distinctive straight remontoir bridge. Twin barrels and two mainsprings provide the substantial energy required to operate the jumping numeral mechanism, while Lange’s patented constant-force escapement delivers the impulse to advance the displays precisely once every 60 seconds. The movement is beautifully finished throughout, with details including the engraved and solarised ratchet wheel and finely decorated bridges.

We are pleased to present this piece in very good pre-owned condition, unpolished with some signs of light wear. In keeping with its refined feel, the watch comes supplied with two Lange dark brown alligator straps, one short and one long, together with an 18ct white-gold pin buckle.

Originally retailed by Wempe London in 2023, this complete set comes with the original presentation box, guarantee card, Wempe guarantee card and instruction booklet. The movement has been tested and found to be running well, and further details are available on request.
