Arcanaut ARC II - Fordite
There are few watch brands as experimental as Arcanaut. Since releasing their first watch in 2018, Chief Designer Anders Brandt and Chief of Materials Development, James Thompson, have continued to push the boundaries of unconventional watchmaking.
James (also known as Black Badger) was one of the first designers to use Fordite in luxury watch. This mesmerising compound is the by-product of layers upon layers of automotive paint, taken from the inside of spraying booths. Hardened over time, it can be cut to reveal swirls of colour or, more unusually with this dial, uniform stripes. This means that every Fordite dial is unique, creating a 1 of 1 watch.
The steel case is machined in Denmark, and has a micro-blasted finish, giving it an industrial feel. Measuring 40.52mm it has a presence on the wrist, while still allowing the dial to do all of the talking.
Powering the watch is an automatic, Swiss-made Soprod M100 movement, offering a 42-hour power reserve. The wearer has the choice of two Arcanaut rubber straps - an everyday black and a bold red.
Presented in excellent pre-owned condition, this 2023 watch comes supplied with its original box and paperwork, including a 6-month warranty.
