Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15400ST

The Royal Oak is one of the most recognisable watches in modern watchmaking, originally introduced by Audemars Piguet in 1972 and designed by Gérald Genta. Its combination of an octagonal bezel, integrated bracelet and distinctive Tapisserie dial has become one of the defining designs of the luxury sports watch.

Watch Concierge Services are pleased to present for sale this excellent example of reference 15400ST, dating from 2017. First introduced in 2012 as the successor to the 39mm 15300, the 15400 increased the case size to 41mm, giving the Royal Oak a more contemporary presence while retaining the design that has made the model so recognisable.

The 41mm stainless-steel has a presence on the wrist, yet with a slim 9.8mm profile, also slips under a cuff. The predominantly brushed finished is in keeping with the sports watch aesthetic, while carefully polished edges catch the light and add an element of luxury.

While the black dial and contrasting steel hands and indices provide a clean, legible design, those who take a closer look can appreciate the intricate Grande Tapisserie pattern. It a feature instantly recognisable with the Royal Oak, and gives the dial depth as it catches the light. A discreet date window at 3 o’clock is a useful addition without detracting from the symmetry.

Through the exhibition case back you can appreciate Audemars Piguet’s Calibre 3120 automatic movement. Developed in-house, the movement offers an impressive 60-hour power reserve and features a beautifully decorated 22ct gold rotor.

The integrated steel bracelet is a key part of the Royal Oak design, with its combination of brushed links and polished bevels continuing the finishing of the case. It is a bracelet that despite its complicated appearance, is known to be remarkably comfortable.

We are pleased to present this 2017 Royal Oak in excellent condition, showing very little signs of wear. It comes supplied with its original presentation box, and paperwork including the warranty booklet and certificate, instruction booklet and swing tag. The movement has been tested and found to be running well, and as such we are happy to cover the watch with a 6-month warranty.

The reference 15400 is a particularly appealing version of the modern Royal Oak, combining the larger 41mm case with the highly regarded Calibre 3120 movement. With its black Grande Tapisserie dial and beautifully finished integrated bracelet, it is an easy watch to admire and one that would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
