Breitling Navitimer 806 1959 Re-Edition

The Breitling Navitimer is one of the world’s most iconic watches, originally introduced in 1952 as a pilot’s watch. The slide rule enables the wearer to make calculations, such as fuel consumption, with an easy turn of the bezel.
 
The watch remains an icon to this day, and in 2019, Breitling released this 806 re-edition in celebration of the much-loved 1959 model, limited to just 1,959 pieces. It is a faithful match to the original, including a Plexiglas and snap-on case back.
 
A plain black dial features clean white hands and markings to provide legibility on a complicated dial, giving an overall aesthetic of an aircraft instrument panel.
 
The 41mm steel case wears well on the wrist and has a relatively slim profile, despite its Breitling in-house calibre B09 movement. The movement was specifically developed for this watch and in keeping with the original, is hand-wound as opposed to automatic. It’s COSC-certified, features a column-wheel chronograph with vertical clutch and offers an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
