Cartier Tank Solo XL Automatic

There are few watch designs quite as iconic as the Cartier Tank. Inspired by the Renault tanks from the First World War, it’s rectangular shape and clean lines and remained unchanged since its release in 1917, making it once of the most recognisable dress watches ever created. 
 
This reference W5200027 is the Tank Solo XL, offering the familiar elegance of the classic Tank with the added practicality of a self-winding movement. Measuring 31mm across and 40.85mm from lug to lug, the steel case has a reassuring presence on the wrist while retaining the slim, refined profile that makes the Tank so versatile. At just 7.65mm thick, it slips comfortably beneath a shirt cuff and is equally at home with formal or casual attire.
 
The dial is unmistakably Cartier. A crisp white background is framed by bold black Roman numerals and the brand's signature minute track, while blued sword-shaped hands provide a subtle splash of colour. A discreet date window at 3 o'clock adds everyday practicality without disturbing the design. Completing the look is Cartier's blue synthetic cabochon set into the crown, a detail that has become synonymous with the brand.
 
Powering the watch is Cartier's self-winding calibre 049 automatic movement, offering the convenience of automatic winding while staying slim enough to preserve the proportions of the case. Fitted to the watch is a black Cartier alligator strap with its original stainless steel folding clasp, perfectly complementing the monochrome elegance of the dial.
 
This 2014 watch is present in excellent pre-owned condition, unpolished with the option to have it refinished should you wish. The movement has been tested and is running well, however may benefit from a service in the future, which is something that we can also arrange for you. The leather strap shows some signs of wear, however there is the option to have it replaced with a Cartier strap, or it would also suit a variety of other straps. 
 
The watch comes supplied with its original presentation box, warranty certificate and user guide.
