Christopher Ward Bel Canto "The Watch Society" Limited Edition

British watch brand, Christopher Ward, are known to produce easy-to-wear, everyday watches at an appealing price point. However, the Bel Canto was a result of three years of intensive development and introduced a new chapter of advanced watchmaking for the brand. And still at a price point for the everyday watch enthusiast.

The Bel Canto was originally introduced with a blue guilloché dial, but this special edition was created in collaboration with The Watch Society, replacing the guilloché with a striking aventurine dial. Limited to just 100 pieces, it gives the Bel Canto an entirely different character, with the tiny flecks within the aventurine catching the light and giving the dial a beautiful, almost starry appearance.

Within a 41mm Grade 5 titanium case, the watch displays an impressive chiming mechanism, designed to resemble a songbird. On the hour, a hammer strikes a polished steel spring to produce the charming sound. Or, for those needing a moment of silence, there is the option to switch off the complication with a pusher at 4 o’clock.

The time is displayed on a floating subdial, with Roman numerals adding a classic feel to the design. The combination of the aventurine dial, blue Roman numerals and exposed movement components makes for a particularly interesting watch, with something different to see every time the light catches the dial.

The case back features a sound-wave motif and underneath houses a Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement on which the FS01 chiming module has been mounted.

Despite its larger size, the Bel Canto wears extremely well on the wrist, partly due to its short lugs and lightweight titanium case. The titanium bracelet is also very comfortable, featuring a micro-adjustable clasp and quick-release fitting. And I think this watch would also suit any number of straps.

We are pleased to present this 2025 watch in unworn condition. It comes supplied with its original presentation box and paperwork, including a Christopher Ward 5-year warranty to July 2030.

The Bel Canto is one of my favourite watches, with its hourly chime almost feeling like a friendly “hello”. This special edition takes an already unusual watch and gives it an even more distinctive personality. The aventurine dial really does catch the eye, and with only 100 pieces produced, this would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
