IWC Portugieser 7-day Power Reserve

The Portugieser model came about when, in 1939, two Portuguese merchants asked IWC to produce a mechanical wristwatch with the same accuracy of a pocket watch. Since then, IWC have used developed the Portugieser family to include almost every kind of horological complication imaginable.
 
This reference IW500109 offers an impressive 7-days of power, whilst retaining that classic dress-watch aesthetic.
 
The elegant black dial remains relatively symmetrical with a date window at 6 o’clock, a seconds sub dial at 9 o’clock and power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock. Long steel hands, steel Arabic numerals and a railway-track style chapter ring give a nod to the original Portugieser references.
 
Through an expansive exhibition case back, you can fully appreciate the calibre 51011 IWC-manufactured movement. The size of the movement is a reminder of the pocket watches on which this model is based and allows for the wearer to appreciate the Côtes de Genève finishing. The automatic rotor is also exquisitely finished with an 18-carat gold medallion.

Paired with the watch is a stylist black leather strap and steel folding clasp.
