Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris gives a luxurious feel to an everyday sports watch. Boasting a trio of finishes, the expansive blue dial features a central sunburst pattern surrounded by a grain finish and an iridescent matt finish on the rotating inner bezel ring. Being a time-only watch, the dial remains balanced light while lume-filled hands, numerals and hour markers allow for legibility in low light.
 
The 42mm case is predominantly brushed and features an internal rotating bezel, operated by an additional crown at 2 o’clock. This JLC compressor-style case dates back to 1965 when they first released the Memovox Plongeur, a dive watch offering a water resistance 200m.
 
This 2021 watch may only be water resistant to 100m, but this is in part due to the exhibition case back, allowing the wearer to fully appreciate Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Calibre 891/1 movement which is fitted with a skeletonised “JL” rotor.
 
Retaining a sporty feel, the watch is paired with a steel bracelet, but would equally suit a leather strap for a dressier look or even a rubber or NATO strap.
