Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duo

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso started life in 1930 following a need for a watch that was sturdy enough for use by polo players. The pivoting case was created, enabling the wearer to flip the watch and protect the crystal.
 
For nearly 100 years, the Reverso has remained a firm favourite with watch collectors, not only a fun concept but as a foundation for a very elegant dress watch. There have been many iterations, but few are as versatile and useful as this Duoface version.
 
Firstly, the polished steel rectangular case is a very wearable size, measuring 42mm x 26mm. Within its reversible mechanism, a single movement powers two independent dials, allowing the wearer to read two time zones. The first (or Recto) dial is an elegant silver, decorated with a Guilloché centre and Arabic numerals which sit on a delicately brushed silver finish.  The second (or Verso) dial is dark grey, decorated with a Clous de Paris Guilloché. A 24-hour sub dial is aligned with the words DAY and NIGHT, giving a nod to the versatility of this GMT watch.
 
That is, a GMT watch with a dressier aesthetic, thanks in part to its polished steel case, which features the iconic three-lined gadroons, or stripes, above and below the dial. The case back is engraved with “1000 hours control” which references JLC’s strict testing program, ensuring that the manual wind calibre 854A movement is operating to the best possible tolerances.
 
The watch comes supplied with two straps, giving an option for a dressier or more relaxed feel. Both the brown alligator strap and tan ostrich strap fit to the JLC steel folding clasp for a clean look.
 
We are pleased to present this beautiful watch in a very good, unpolished condition. It comes supplied as a full set, including its original box and papers, and details of a service carried out in 2021. Furthermore, the movement has been tested and found to be running well, and as such, we’re pleased to sell the watch with a 6-month warranty. There is also the option to have the case refinished if you wish.
