We are pleased to offer for sale a modern day example of one of the most iconic watches ever made. The Omega Speedmaster has been included in all six lunar missions and is an impressive representation of the brand’s pioneering spirit.
 
This reference 311.30.42.30.01.006 is often referred to as the "sapphire sandwich" referencing the sapphire crystals on both the front and back of the watch. Not only does this make it a more durable alternative to the original hesalite models, it also provides a clear view of Omega’s Calibre 1863 manual-wind movement through the exhibition case back. on case back. A direct descendant of the calibre worn on the Moon, the 1863 features classic chronograph architecture and offers a 48-hour power reserve.
 
The matt black dial stays true to the design language of those early Moonwatches, with contrasting white hands and markers offering legibility. The layout includes a small-seconds sub-dial, 30-minute recorder, 12-hour recorder and a central chronograph hand, maintaining the Speedmaster’s familiar and functional aesthetic.
 
This example is fitted with a steel Speedmaster bracelet, however also supplied is two Omega black textile straps, similar in style to the NATO straps worn by early astronauts.
 
This 2020 watch is in excellent pre-owned condition, showing only light marks to the case, however the bracelet is in a like-new condition with no visible signs of wear. There is the option to have the watch case refinished if you wish.
