Omega Speedmaster "Snoopy" Apollo 13
Limited to just 1,970 pieces, this watch celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo XIII mission.
In 1968, NASA chose the cartoon dog, Snoopy, as a mascot to watch over their missions and in the same year, decided to award employees and contractors with a sterling silver Snoopy pin for special contributions to the missions.
In 1970, the astronauts on Apollo XIII mission not only wore Omega Speedmasters, but crucially used them to time a 14-second mid-course correction. The phrase “What could you do in 14 seconds?” is seen on the dial of this very special watch.
Also shown on the dial is the phrase “Failure is not an option” which was used in the 1995 Apollo 13 film. Lastly, we can see Snoopy snoozing on the subdial at 9 o’clock.
Both the dial and tachymetre feature generous amounts of Super Luminova, illuminating the watch when the lights go down.
The 42mm steel case is recognisable as a Speedmaster, but on the back of the watch is a 925 Silver Snoopy medallion with dark blue enamel.
Powering the watch is Omega’s Calibre 1861 manual-wind movement, a descendent of the calibre that was worn on the Moon.
The watch is paired with an Omega black coated nylon fabric strap and an Omega steel folding buckle.
We are excited to present this limited edition watch in an excellent pre-owned condition, supplied with its original box and paperwork.
