Panerai Luminor Marina 1950 3-Days

Italian watchmaker Panerai have been producing watches since 1860, concentrating their efforts to create dive watches for the Italian Navy and in doing so, firstly developed Radiomir, a highly-luminous substance for use on watch dials. In 1949, Panerai filed a patent for Luminor, which had been developed to become a less harmful alternative to Radiomir. It was in these early watches that we first saw the use of sandwich dials – a technique of using two dial discs, one with cut-outs for the numerals which displayed the luminous material underneath.
 
Seven years later, while creating a watch for the Egyptian Navy, Panerai introduced their first watch with a crown guard. Something which 70 years later, still remains an iconic feature of a Panerai watch.
 
Therefore, with its black sandwich dial and bold crown guard, this reference PAM00312 ticks all of the boxes for those looking for a classic Panerai model.
 
At 44mm, this isn’t a small watch, however, it’s well-proportioned and sits comfortably on the wrist. The steel cushion-shaped case is a mix of polished and brushed finished, adding an element of luxury to a robust tool watch.
 
The black dial is highly legible and relatively balanced, with a simple date window at 3 o’clock and a small seconds at 9 o'clock.
 
Through an exhibition case back, you can appreciate Panerai’s in-house Calibre P.9000 automatic movement. Featuring two barrels, it can offer an impressive 3-day power reserve.

Fitted to the watch is a plain black leather Panerai strap with an oversized steel pin buckle. However this watch would also look great on any numbers of straps such as a fabric or rubber strap.
 
We are pleased to present this 2009 watch in excellent condition, showing very little signs of wear. The watch has undergone a full service and refinish by Panerai in October 2024 and therefore is covered by their service warranty until October 2026. It comes supplied as a full set, including its presentation box, paperwork, bezel protector and strap tool.
