Rolex Explorer

The Rolex Explorer has its origins deeply rooted as the go-to watch for adventurers. The first “Pre-Explorer” accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on their successful mission to become the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1952.
 
Those early watches were 36mm and in later years, Rolex released a 39mm version of the Explorer. However, in 2023, they made the bold decision to release this 40mm version of the Explorer, which sits alongside the 36mm Explorer in their current collection.

The dial is one of Rolex’s most favoured designs, with simple 3-6-9 numerals – so iconic that I chose “0369” for the Watch Concierge Services telephone number. Rolex’s luminous Chromalight provides additional legibility in low light.
 
The 40mm steel case is sturdy as you would expect, and offers 100m of water resistance. The finish is predominantly brushed, with a polished bezel to add an element of luxury to a steel sports watch. The steel Oyster bracelet features Rolex’s Easylink system, allowing the wearer to quickly adjust the size of the bracelet by 5mm for maximum comfort. I also think that the Explorer looks great on any number of straps, too.

The Explorer really is the “go anywhere, do anything” watch – from business meetings and black tie events to hiking up a hill or a day on the beach.
Presented in an excellent condition, this watch is supplied with its original box and papers, including a Rolex warranty to May 2028.
