Rolex are the go-to for luxury sports watches, and while the Submariner is one of the most iconic models ever produced, the Yacht-Master should not be overlooked.
 
This reference 126622 may look like another stainless steel sports watch at first glance, but Rolex have been able to effortlessly combine the sporty shape of a dive watch, with the allure of precious metal in the form of bezel made from platinum.
 
The much-loved 40mm steel Oyster case is easy to wear and with a water resistance of 100m, it makes for a suitable everyday watch. But the addition of platinum takes you from the pool to well, the yacht club. The sandblasted bezel features raised and polished Arabic numerals and bevels that playfully catch the light. The sunburst rhodium dial is also very striking when it catches the light, and I love the pale blue accents on the dial and second hand. The generous use of Chromalight, Rolex’s own luminous material, ensures that the watch is easy to use in low light.
 
Powering the watch is Rolex’s Calibre 3235 automatic movement. Chronometer-certified and known to be extremely robust and accurate, it offers an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
