Tag Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph "Sundowner" Time + Tide Limited Edition
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer has long been designed as a practical watch for any adventure, and the Solargraph takes this one step further with a movement powered by light. For its collaboration with Australian watch publication Time+Tide, the Solargraph has been given it an unmistakably Australian character, inspired by the harsh but beautiful landscapes of the Outback.
Watch Concierge Services are pleased to present for sale this excellent example of the Aquaracer Solargraph ‘Sundowner’, one of just 250 pieces produced. The watch was designed as the “ultimate Australian adventurer’s watch”, with Time+Tide taking inspiration from the way the Australian sun turns to a warm rose-gold colour at sunset, particularly against a stormy sky. The result is a practical tool watch with some surprisingly warm details.
The 40mm Grade 2 titanium case has a fully sand-blasted finish, giving it a lightweight and slightly utilitarian appearance. The screw-down crown and 200m water resistance make it more than capable of handling life in the water, while the unidirectional bezel features a rose-gold tone timing scale to complement the details on the dial.
The anthracite dial is perhaps the most interesting part of the watch. Horizontal channels run across the dial, inspired by the nautical character of the Aquaracer, but they also serve a practical purpose. The channels are actually transparent sections which allow both sunlight and artificial light to reach the solar cells beneath, powering the movement. But perhaps my favourite detail is the double-signed TAG Heuer and Time+Tide shields which, along with the hands and indices, are finished in 5N rose gold, reflecting the warm tones of an Australian sunset.
Turning the watch over reveals a specially decorated case back, with a raised Time+Tide logo set within a sunken honeycomb pattern. Underneath is TAG Heuer’s TH50-00 Solargraph movement, developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret. A full charge provides up to 10 months of power, while the movement can enter a power-saving mode which extends this to around four years. It can be charged by both natural and artificial light, making this a particularly effective feature.
In keeping with the rugged, adventurous design, the watch is fitted with a khaki-green fabric strap, featuring rose gold-coloured titanium hardware.
We are pleased to present this 2024 example in excellent condition, showing very little signs of wear. It comes supplied as a full set, including its original presentation box and travel case, instruction booklet and warranty card.
The Sundowner is a charming take on the Aquaracer, combining the practicality of a lightweight titanium case and solar-powered movement with the warmth of the rose-gold detailing. Limited to just 250 pieces and created specifically with Time+Tide, it is a particularly appealing version for anyone looking for an Aquaracer with a little more character.
