Vintage Breitling Chrono-Matic
This is an exceptional example of an early Breitling Chrono-Matic reference 2111 from 1969.
This model is fitted with a Calibre 11 movement, the result of Project 99 which saw Breitling, Heuer-Léonidas, Hamilton-Büren and Dubois-Depraz collaborate to create one of the first automatic chronographs. The movement is easily recognised by its unusual crown positioning at 9 o’clock, two pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, two subdials at 9 and 3 o’clock and a central date window at 6 o’clock.
The Chrono-Matic has a striking design featuring a silver “Surfboard” dial, highlighted with orange hands. The dial and hands on this watch are in an excellent condition showing only a little evidence of patina. The luminescence is still intact as you can see from the photographs.
The square 38mm case has a presence on the wrist, yet isn’t too big or clumsy. The case shows some signs of wear as can be expected of a watch that is over 50 years old, but overall is in a very good condition. The case back engravings are still clearly visible.
The movement is also in a very good condition, having recently been maintained by an experienced vintage watchmaker, and as such we are happy to supply the watch with a six-month warranty.
This truly is a very special watch, guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
