Vintage Breitling 2110 Chrono-Matic
We are excited to bring to the market this exceptional example of an early Breitling Chrono-Matic reference 2110 from 1969.
Its striking design features vibrant red and orange accents, in keeping with the style of that era.
The steel case is fitted with a two-tone bi-directional rotating bezel – the silver ring giving the optical illusion of a larger dial. A bright red triangle at 12 o’clock matches the red on the minute counter and works well with orange open-tipped hands. A framed date window at 6 o’clock sits beneath a simple “CHRONO-MATIC”.
However, beneath the charming aesthetic, lies a true piece of history – the Calibre 11 movement. The movement was born as a result of Project 99 which, in 1969, saw Breitling, Heuer-Léonidas, Hamilton-Büren and Dubois-Depraz collaborate to create one of the first automatic chronographs. The movement is easily recognised by its unusual crown positioning at 9 o’clock and two pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock and Heuer (later Tag Heuer) and Hamilton went on to also create watches using the same movement.
This 55-year old watch is presented in an excellent condition, showing light patina to the dial and hands, and light wear to the case. In particular, we noted the crisp edges on the lugs and clear engravings on the case back.
The movement has been tested and found to be running well, and as such we are pleased to supply the watch with a 6-month warranty.
The watch comes with a Breitling travel case and is fitted with a black leather strap, however additional straps are available. Contact us to find out more.
