Vintage Breitling Chronomat 8808

We are excited to bring to the market this exceptional example of a vintage Breitling Chronomat reference 8808 from 1973. Its striking design features vibrant orange accents, in keeping with the style of that era.
 
The Chronomat has long been a prominent feature in the Breitling collection, dating back to 1941 when its iconic slide rule was first patented. By rotating the bezel, the wearer is able to carry out any number of calculations; this became an essential tool for pilots who could then calculate air speed and fuel consumption.
 
Various iterations of the Chronomat followed, and after the introduction of the first automatic chronograph in 1969, this reference 8808 was released in the early 1970s. It features the Breitling Chrono-Matic Calibre 12 movement, fitted with a micro-rotor and offering a 42-hour power reserve.
 
But it’s the dial that really catches your attention. Presented here in exceptional condition, the lacquered black is brought to life with bright orange highlights on the slide rule, chrono seconds hand, minute counter, and also an orange-red font on the date disc. The words “CHRONOMAT” and “CHRONO-MATIC” make reference to the model and movement.
 
This 52-year old watch is presented in wonderful vintage condition, showing only very light patina to the dial and hands, and light wear to the case. In particular, we noted the crisp edges on the lugs and clear engravings on the case back.
 
The movement has been tested and found to be running well, and as such, we are pleased to supply the watch with a 6-month warranty.
