Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Sport

The Zenith El Primero could be described as one of the most important movements in the history of watchmaking. Meaning “The First” in Spanish, in 1969 the El Primero claims to have beaten its competition to become the first automatic chronograph.
 
In 2021 Zenith gave their sports chronograph an even sportier facelift with the introduction of a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel and an updated movement.
 
The Chronomaster Sport still retains its vintage charm with its iconic tri-colour overlapping subdials and pump pushers. However, the bezel gives a nod to the advanced engineering going on behind the scenes – a calibre 3600 movement, capable of timing 1/10th of a second.
 
The movement, visible through an exhibition case back, is a descendant of that first El Primero movement, beautifully finished and featuring a star-shaped open rotor. Furthermore, it offers an impressive 60-hour power reserve.

The 41mm case wears well on the wrist and has both brushed and polished finishes, as you might expect from a luxury sports watch. Adding to the sporty aesthetic, the watch is paired with a black rubber strap, fitted with a steel folding clasp.
